Twighlight

We've been out of touch for a while and have a lot more important things to update on our blog, but we've been going through reading everyone else's blogs and seeing this Twighlight craze and not getting it. We were actually introduced to Twighlight by Rusty's mom. We downloaded tons of books on our ipods before heading out on our trip including three recommendations from Rusty's mom: Twighlight, The Secret Life of Bees, and A Girl Named Zippie. Denise (Rusty's mom) LOVES all of these.

Well, we'd add the last two to our list of favorite books (seriously good books!), but we both CANNOT figure out why everyone is so in love with Twighlight. Will someone please share with us the redeeming qualities of this book? Maybe the movie's better than the book. We haven't seen that available to watch out in Asia. We're glad we at least are both on the same page as each other in this matter :) Our analysis was a plot without any substance with poor authorship: too many adjectives, too dramatic . . . no moral teachings nor great insights into life nor anything profound to ponder . . . ???

I've read the Twilight books. But I don't admit that often. They're very addictive, but not very high quality. I enjoyed her other book, the Host, more. I have no desire to see the movie, and am not sure what all the crazed fans are so wild about! I certainly haven't purchased them! But I did enjoy them, for what they were worth.

When you get a minute, can you visit my online Christmas card? I'm making a map of all the people that visit, and I'd love to add whatever country you're in!

Hope you have a memorable and happy Christmas,

That is pretty much a perfect analysis of Twilight. I want to edit for her as I read. She needs help in the writing department.

I started reading them because she lived in my husband's parents ward so I have signed copies from her. I think she's gotten so big because she creates a perfect, extremely hot guy who falls in love with an average girl. So every average girl (and their mothers who like a good romance) out there is in love with it. She does have some good characterization but her dialogue is terrible. Basically it's like those magazines in the check out line- no real substance but you still glance at the headlines. It's a easy read but nothing profound.

Though I haven't read the book nor seen the movie, I understand that adolescent girls are the ones who are really crazy over these books and the movie. So if you don't fit that demographic profile maybe that's why you're not crazy over it! Though Lauren enjoyed the book, she said the movie is so bad it's laughable. So there ya go!

Their kind of like a twinkie. Not a lot of substance, kind of yummy while your eating it, no actual nutritional value. But, what can I say... I like twinkies!

AAAAAAMEN! I only read a couple pages in the middle of one of the books, but seriously that was enough.

I think the craze in the mormon sector of the blogosphere is because it was an LDS author so it makes for a clean romantic vampire love story. I guess that's why it's so unique. Most people who write vampire love stories probably dirty it up a little, but what do I know, I just read choose your own adventure books.

I doubt I would have read the book on my own if I didn't have to pre-read everything I put out on my shelves at school for 7th graders. Books one, two and three are on my shelves and constantly checked out, but book four was not as clean as the others, so I don't supply it for reading material. The series offers, light fast reading, that is somewhat different from other books written for that age range. Personally I'm happy the books are as popular as they are. Anytime you can get 12-18 year old girls to read clean romance, you're doing them a favor even if it isn't written as well as other books.

By the way, the movie wasn't good. I was dissapointed!

Grandma and I have enjoyed your travel chronicles. Every episode seems to be an adventure with some classified as "a learning experience." Grandma worries that you need to be safe.( I say slighly safer) We look forward to your return so we can sit and quiz you both about your journey.
